And he said to them: “I have looked forward to eating this meal with you before the temple arrests me.” | Luke 22:15
Before taking the cup, he gave thanks to the Father and passed it among them all saying: “Take this and share it among yourselves.” | Luke 22:17
Then he took a loaf of bread, broke it, and gave it to each of them in turn saying: “Take and eat. When you break bread together, remember me. Remember what we have shared. Keep gathering and coming back to each other.” | Luke 22:19
They remained at the table long after the meal was finished, talking, laughing and enjoying each other's company as people do when they are not yet ready to leave one another.
Jesus said: “But look, the hand of the one who will hand me over is with me on the table.” | Luke 22:21

After he received the piece of bread, the heavy weight of his forced surrender settled upon him. Jesus looked at him with compassion and said to him, “Do quickly what you are going to do.” | John 13:27
But no one at the table knew why Jesus had said this to him. | John 13:28

but I have prayed that your own faith may not fail, and should you fail, when once you have returned to me, strengthen your brothers.” | Luke 22:32
And Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go to prison with you and even follow you to death! I shall not deny you.” | Luke 22:33
Jesus paused and replied, “I tell you, Peter, that the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know me.” | Luke 22:34
And all the other apostles said the same. | Mark 14:31
Purse, Bag, and Sword
Then Jesus asked, “When I sent you out without a purse, bag, or sandals, was there anything you lacked?” The disciples answered, “No, nothing.” | Luke 22:35
Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse must take it, and a bag as well. And whoever has no sword must sell their cloak and buy one. | Luke 22:36
Andrew said, “Lord, see, here are two swords.” Jesus replied, “It is sufficient.” | Luke 22:38
The New Commandment
Jesus said, “Listen, I am with you only for a while longer. You shall look for me, and as I told the others, now I say as well to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ | John 13:33
I give you my only commandment, that you love each another. Just as I have loved you, you should love one another also. | John 13:34
By this everyone shall know that you are my disciples, if you show love for each other.” | John 13:35
They disciples said, “Come, let us pray today and let us fast.” Jesus said, “What is the sin that I have committed? Or how have I been overcome? When the bridegroom leaves the bridal chamber, then you should fast and pray.” | Gospel of Thomas 104
Jesus the Way to the Father
“Do not let your hearts be distressed. Believe in my Father and believe also in me. | John 14:1
In my Father’s mansion there are many rooms. If it had not been so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? | John 14:2
And if I go and prepare a place for you, you will see me again if you do my works and I shall take you to myself, so that where I am, you may be there also. | John 14:3
And where I am going, you all know the way to the place.” | John 14:4
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going and so how can we know the way?” | John 14:5
Jesus answered Thomas, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one ever comes to my Father except through me. | John 14:6
If you know me, you should know my Father as well. From this moment you do know him and have seen him.” | John 14:7
Philip asked him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” | John 14:8
Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know me? Whosoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you ask me, ‘Show us the Father’? | John 14:9
The disciples still looked confused and Jesus said, “When you see one who was not born of woman, throw yourselves down on your faces and worship him. That one is your Father. | Gospel of Thomas 15

Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if not, believe because of the works themselves. | John 14:11
In truth I say to you, the one who believes in me and shall do the works that I do, will in fact, go on to do greater works than mine because I am going to the Father. | John 14:12
What you ask in my name, I will carry before the Father, yet the Father answers in his own time and his own way. Let not silence be despair, for even silence is the Father's wisdom. | John 14:13
If you ask in my name, then rise and act, for I work through hands that are willing, not through words alone. The one who asks and then waits idle has not truly asked. | John 14:14
I shall give you what no eye has seen and what no ear has heard and what no hand has touched and what has never entered into the heart of man.” | Gospel of Thomas 17
